Thoughts, Travels, and Things in Between

I'm Nic, a writer, storyteller, and student of the craft based in the UAE. I majored in linguistics and literature in college, preparing myself for a lifelong career in the academe, only to retire from teaching a year and a half later. Now I live and breathe creativity, perfecting my craft as a writer and editor, pursuing my master's degree in development communication, and blogging part-time about my travels, thoughts and things in between.

Well, hello there! The first half of 2018 has been rather eventful to say the least, despite the lack of blog entries to back it up.
Late last year, I was on the hunt for a place of my own. Considering I had a very limited budget, my options were narrowed down to bed spaces and partitions near my new office.

Happy New Year! I had to sit the first month out for fear of sounding like an overexcited kid in an amusement park.
After 2 Christmases spent in China (2015) and Egypt (2016), I am finally able to spend Christmas in my adoptive city of Dubai.
Winter is here! — Or at least that which we call “winter” in the U.A.E. — a brief spell of cool weather, survivable even without 24 hours of air condition, and typically running between November to April.
It was my first job interview — Well, really my third, but since it was my first one without knowing anybody from the “inside,” it felt like my first job interview all over again.
About 4 months ago, a good friend of mine accepted her second job offer promising a higher salary, more opportunities, and an overall better life.
Before I wrote my college comparative thesis on fairy tales, published essays in newspapers and magazines, developed scripts for high school class plays, and submitted anonymous fanfictions online, I kept diaries.
